Eureka Community Players to Perform

Eureka Community Players to Perform

The Tobacco Valley is fortunate to have the dynamic community theater group that began three years in Eureka and grows stronger play by play. Over Rendezvous weekend from April 28 through May 1, Eureka Community Players will perform its outrageous musical melodrama "Lurking on the Railroad (or Will She Give Him a Wide Berth?)" at the Majestic Theater.

Shows are at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m on Sunday. This side-splitting musical is sure to be a delight for audiences of all ages, which is why Eureka Community Players offers reduced admission for children under 12 years old and adults over 65. Tickets are available at the door for $7 general admission and $5 for youth and seniors.

The musical, under the direction of John and Sharon LaBonty, has a cast of 18 actors ranging from the infamous Ethel White to Eureka's newest English teacher, Latimer Hoke. The cast has been practicing since February, so they have their lines and songs down pat. When Eureka Community Players first started up in 2013, there hadn't been any community theater in Eureka for over 20 years. Show your support for these intrepid actors and for having live theater once again in the Tobacco Valley by joining us at one of the shows.

Rita Collins

About the Author: Rita Collins. I am a believer in the power of community and for now I call the Tobacco Valley home. I have lived in nine states and three counties and this community here amazes me - how people reach out to neighbors and even travelers. I've never lived in a place that demonstrates people caring for each other so well. And I've never lived in a place that has such a high percentage of talented musicians and artists. I work with the the Sunburst Community Service Foundation, a nonprofit that began in Eureka twenty years ago and now serves numerous communities in western Montana. And I just started a new business, St. Rita's Amazing Traveling Bookstore and Textual Apothecary. I never could have imagined life being this exciting in my sixth decade.
