Remembering Jon Crandell

For far too short a time we were blessed with the photographic talent of Jon Crandell. Sally Utley expressed our sentiments beautifully: "Jon blanketed everyone he met with his love and always tried to help out wherever and whenever he could". The loving comments posted (by people on Sally's Facebook page) commemorate his spirit and share that blanket of love back to him. May he rest in great smiling peace.

He had an unexpected fatal heart attack at church in Kalispell, MT, Sunday the 19th. He was a happy camper up to the last minute; happy to be in church, thrilled to have his tractor running and his experimental rocket stove ready for winter heat; and he was looking forward to his next road trip to visit friends this month.

He is greatly missed by oh so many 'families' of people he befriended....He worked hard with his cameras, wanting to share beauty with the world."

Thank you, Jon...we miss you and the smiles you were always eager to share.

Rita Collins

About the Author: Rita Collins. I am a believer in the power of community and for now I call the Tobacco Valley home. I have lived in nine states and three counties and this community here amazes me - how people reach out to neighbors and even travelers. I've never lived in a place that demonstrates people caring for each other so well. And I've never lived in a place that has such a high percentage of talented musicians and artists. I work with the the Sunburst Community Service Foundation, a nonprofit that began in Eureka twenty years ago and now serves numerous communities in western Montana. And I just started a new business, St. Rita's Amazing Traveling Bookstore and Textual Apothecary. I never could have imagined life being this exciting in my sixth decade.
