Ant Flat, one of the first Ranger Stations on the Kootenai Forest and was recently converted into an environmental education center. Ant Flat Nature Trail (348) leads to a viewing platform allowing visitors to see a marshland ecosystem. This is a loop trail that is designed for wheelchair access to the platform, then foot travel for the remainder of the 1-mile, self-guided nature trail. Ant Flat has long been a popular field trip location for area schools and also is the landing area for the local Alert Helicopter. Restrooms and picnicking areas are provided. The trail is an easy one mile loop and is generally considered an easy stroll.
